JARS Cannabis to Acquire Sonoran Roots, Creating Arizona’s Largest Dispensary Network
The deal will rebrand eight Ponderosa Dispensary locations under JARS Cannabis and form a 27-store network across Arizona.
JARS Cannabis is set to acquire Sonoran Roots, combining its retail platform with Sonoran Roots’ vertically integrated operation and eight Ponderosa Dispensary locations. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the third quarter, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
JARS Cannabis has announced plans to acquire Sonoran Roots in a deal that would create the largest cannabis dispensary network in Arizona, totaling 27 locations.
As part of the acquisition, Sonoran Roots’ eight Ponderosa Dispensary locations in Chandler, Flagstaff, Glendale, Mesa, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Tempe, and Tucson will rebrand under the JARS Cannabis name.
Ronnie Kassab, CEO of JARS Cannabis, said the acquisition is “not scale for scale’s sake,” describing the combination as bringing together JARS’ retail platform with Sonoran Roots’ brand, product portfolio, and vertically integrated operation.
Michael O’Brien, currently CEO of Sonoran Roots, will become chief strategy officer of JARS. He said the companies are preserving their brands and relationships while pairing Sonoran Roots’ strengths with a retail organization that has the scale and ambition to expand further.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of the third quarter of this year and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
